I became a bootcamp fitness instructor in 1998 and a Fire Academy fitness trainer in 1999. I founded the Pilates Cardiocamp in Los Altos and Woodside California in 2001 and Women Getting Fit 2009.

I’ve never struggled personally with my weight but my mother did. My mom struggled with her weight most of my childhood.

I remember her sitting at the kitchen table eating a gallon of ice cream in one setting. She used to go to the store and buy two gallons of ice cream. One was for her and the other for the family.

She went on a TON of different diets to try and lose weight many times. It didn’t seem like anything would work for her.

One day when I was in elementary school, I remember getting a note from the office. It said, “your’ mother needs you to go home.” My school was only four blocks away so I walked.

The whole time I was walking home, I wondered what was wrong. My mother had never called me out of school before. In fact my twin sister was at the same school in a different classroom, and she wasn’t being asked to go home.

I started asking myself questions like: Why didn’t she come and pick me up? What did she want?

“Did someone die?”

When I got home I found my mother in her bed and asked what she needed. She asked if I could get her a drink of water. I didn’t realize why she couldn’t get it herself.

What I didn’t know was she was too weak to get out of bed. She had been on a doctor prescribed cabbage soup diet for three weeks and didn’t have the energy to take care of herself.

I remember sitting with her completely confused. Being nine years old, I didn’t understand why my mother was doing this to herself. That was when she looked up at me and said,

“Michelle, how do I lose weight?”

I’ll never forget it because at the time I was just asking myself what was the problem?

My response to her might not shock you. You’ve probably heard something like it before. However, she hadn’t, nor had I. I said the only thing that I could think of that made sense. I said, “Mom, think thin and you’ll be thin”.

At the time I don’t know why this made sense. What evidence had I learned that told me this was true? I don’t know. It was what I felt in my heart. It was why I couldn’t grasp the reason this was so difficult.

When I became a fitness trainer in 1996, I started seeing my own clients struggling with their weight like my mother had.

I would have clients leave my bootcamps only to return the next year and tell me they had done nothing while they were gone. I have seen clients struggle back and forth with their weight while others stayed slim.

I started getting really curious about this.

“Why did some people stay fit and trim while others struggled?”

I remember having the same feeling I had with my mother. What was the problem? Why were they making it so hard? That’s when I made it my mission to find the answer.

I started taking more fitness courses thinking I’d find the answer that way. I became a Heart Zone trainer and started training clients using their heart rate monitor. I became an Intuitive Eating coach and trained clients with their nutrition and intuition. I became a Fitness by Phone coach and trained clients over the phone with strength training and cardio.

Even though these programs worked and clients would get results many wouldn’t keep the results they got. It was the same pattern as before.

They would have the body they wanted, or very close to it, and around a year later they would be back were they started. This was very frustrating for me.

I started thinking maybe I’m not a good enough coach. And then I stumbled upon programs and courses around human behavior and the light bulb went on!

What I found astounded me. I had the answer when I was nine.

“Think thin and you’ll be thin was it and it goes even deeper than that.”

Your weight loss struggle is on a cellular level and it’s not your fault.

I want you to know I’m not a Brain Scientist, Quantum Physicist, Psychologist, or any type of doctor at all. Even though I have studied many of these areas as they relate to weight loss and fitness for years. I’m merely a fitness professional who has taken what I’ve learned and related it as best I can to why you may be struggling with in regards to your weight.

I wanted to know what keeps people sabotaging their weight release efforts and how can I help them create a body they enjoy and will live in the rest of their life?  I recently became a Psych-K facilitator which has been the most powerful training in changing client’s behavior from the subconscious level. Psych-K is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

It’s my goal to give you tools that stop the struggle so you can live in a body you LOVE! That is what kept me looking for answers to the frustration I’ve seen many clients have in regards to their weight.

To the left you’ll see my mother and I. She eats healthy everyday. Her fridge is stocked with healthy foods. She is not the same person she was when I was growing up and our relationship is one of friendship and love.

You don’t have to stay disconnected with the people you love because of your weight. Your life can be different!

It is your birthright to be thin and fit! You were not meant to struggle with your weight and dislike your body. Let me show you that it’s not your fault you’ve been struggling for so long and give you new insights you’ll never learn in a gym.
